Discover ‘The Entangling Allure of the French Organ’ at our upcoming The American Organist (TAO) book club. Join us for a virtual presentation and discussion with acclaimed organ consultant Jonathan Ambrosino.
Over the past four decades, North American organists, scholars, and builders became newly and seriously fascinated by the French organ, classical and romantic, hoping to incorporate its tonalities and balances into modern American instruments. But in the end, how adaptable to Sunday usage is a style primed for bravura and without regard for accompanying the voice?
Jonathan will explore two organs by Fisk (1995, 2018) and two by Juget-Sinclair (2006, 2015). For those wishing advance reading, here are three articles by Jonathan which attendees are welcome to read ahead of time to come up to speed on the instruments under discussion.
This online event promises to be both a lively and highly informative session. We hope to see you on Zoom.
